Alaska Fjord Tours

Fjord Tours: that means Whales, sea otters, puffins, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, mountain goats, glaciers, awesome scenery and more !!! This day tour/cruise can be arranged as part of any package. For your convenience, it can be arranged at almost any time during your stay. It can be arranged for the day you arrive, any full day you stay at the Lodge or even the day you check out.

We personally recommend the six (6) hour tour which we ourselves have been on numerous times. This is Alaska’s most popular wildlife and glacier cruise! The day cruise departs from Seward and provides an in-depth experience of Kenai Fjords National Park’s abundant wildlife, alpine and tidewater glaciers. Alaska is famed for its fishing, but aside from salmon the marine life off the Alaskan coast thrives! A six (6) hour day cruise with Kenai Fjords tour group is the perfect way to experience it.

Already at the port you can often see the first wildlife … bald eagles and sea otters. If you take a look at the beautiful coast of Seward you can observe mountain goats and sea lions. After passing several fjords and hopefully seeing whales and dall porpoises along the way, you will arrive at a breathtaking glacier. The boat engine will be shut down in order for the you to better hear the calving of the ice and the loud cracks from deep within the valley. The blue mountain drops giant sheets of ice into the water where harbour seals and sea otters rest on floating shards of century old ice.

On your way back, you may yet again be accompanied by dall porpoises. Sometimes you can see humpback and orca whales and if you are lucky, you’ll get the possibility to see the 2nd largest animal in the world: the fin-whale. Harbour seals, sea lions and puffins are often seen. And on top of all of that, you will be served a Fisherman’s lunch on the boat followed by some of the best fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies you will ever have! However, since they do not include drinks in your lunch, you may want to take something along by yourself.

NOTE: this trip can be combined with a spectacular two hour glacier based dog sled tour/helicopter fly out. For one of the best utilized and action-packed days you could ever possibly have in Alaska! You will get to experience a glacier from head to toe in one day!

Alaska Birding Trips

The Kenai Peninsula has always been a mecca for bird and wildlife viewing. Home of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, The Kenai Fjord’s National Park, Chugach National Forest, and various other state and national wilderness treasures, the Kenai Peninsula is a pristine environment for wildlife. Nonetheless, the Kenai Peninsula is also the most accessible wilderness in all of Alaska. Road access is easy from Anchorage and the Peninsula is accessible from one end to the other by car. In addition, hiking trails and other wildlife viewing access points are abundant.

With the introduction of the Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail, access to all of this abundant wildlife just got easier! The Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail is a collection of 65 bird and wildlife viewing sites throughout the peninsula. The sites encompass all of Kenai’s major wildlife habitats, and range from roadside platforms to backcountry trails. The sites covered by the trail are broken into four regions of the Kenai Peninsula and can yield sightings of whales, eagles, puffins, sea otters, bears, moose, caribou, warblers, mergansers, loons, swans, terns, Ptarmigan – just to name a few. Also, many of the shorebirds and passerines that can be seen along the way are unique birds species sought after by birders throughout the world. There is a wonderful guidebook available entitled Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail Guide (ISBN number 1-933375-05-1).

Specifically, we have created two packages that will exceed birders’ (and wildlife viewers) expectations. These packages offer a nice mix of habitats. They also cover a broad range of the Kenai Peninsula. We also offer another package that provides a nice mix between birding and wildlife viewing as well as fishing. Any of these packages are customizable. These packages and prices are listed below:
